Flex Support Professional (FSP) provides direct, person-centered support in a variety of settings while demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to changing schedules, locations, and service needs. FSPs uphold the ethical standards and core competencies established by the National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals (NADSP) and utilize innovative solutions, including technology, to deliver responsive and comprehensive support.

This role focuses on both in-person assistance and support with daily living activities. FSPs may also provide virtual or remote support when appropriate, using technology to enhance service delivery and maintain consistent, person-centered care even when a constant physical presence is not required.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. FSPs provide flexible, person-centered support across varied settings and schedules, aligning with the individual's goals, personality, and choices.
  2. FSPs advocate for self-determination and ensure that all interactions are guided by ethical standards, including confidentiality, justice, equity, and fostering meaningful relationships.
  3. FSPs coordinate with FlexSupport Coordinators and other team members to ensure service continuity and maintain thorough, respectful, and confidential documentation of all interactions and support provided.
  4. FSPs demonstrate independent problem-solving skills, resourcefulness, and the capacity to work effectively in diverse, dynamic environments. They are expected to adapt quickly to changing circumstances and integrate innovative solutions into their support models, ensuring service delivery remains effective and responsive to individual needs.
  5. FSPs assist individuals in developing and maintaining relationships, recognizing the importance of reciprocal connections with family and friends. They support individuals in overcoming barriers to establishing valued relationships and community involvement.
  6. FSPs are knowledgeable about crisis prevention, intervention, and resolution techniques, and apply principles and practices consistent with positive behavior support strategies.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Empathy, strong communication, and adherence to ethical standards.
  • FSPs need additional competencies in digital communication, technology management, problem-solving, and resourcefulness.
  • FSPs are expected to adapt quickly to changing circumstances and integrate innovative solutions into their support models, ensuring effective and responsive service delivery to individual needs.
  • Experience: Proven ability to work independently in a rapidly changing environment with relevant experience in direct support.
  • Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Technical Proficiency: Ability to effectively and efficiently use computers or mobile devices for inputting, accessing, modifying, or collecting information.
  • Driving: Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license. When operating a vehicle, FSPs must maintain a current Arkansas driver's license in accordance with agency requirements and drive safely and courteously.

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS :

  • Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
